Zeusmos Installous Alternative Allows Cracked App Installs Without Jailbreaking

By on 3:50 PM

A lot of people were shocked, some upset, when only the other day Hackulous shut down the doors of the iOS App piracy service ‘Installous’. Unfortunately, in the wake of such a mainstream player in the iPiracy world’s death, another potentially far more dangerous alternative has come to fruition. Zeusmos is a service seemingly set up by a 15 year old developer, which allows the user to totally bypass Apple DRM an install cracked applications without hindrance – on non-jailbroken devices.

The developer of Zeusmos, uhelios, has responded to TNW after they asked for more information on what is going down. He’s now reverting to a statement that he’s offering the service as a sort of ‘try before you buy’ option.

The intent of Zeusmos will be to SOLELY code sign applications. We will not be supporting or encouraging any form of piracy through the link providers or even via search (although they were based off the iTunes API).

The intents [sic] as I have stated [was] to allow open development for developers. Recently I’ve had the time to add this feature into Zeusmos called the “Exclusive Apps” section where developers who got their application rejected in the App Store were able to post their application on here for free and share their application to a large audience of users. Such applications even included Grooveshark and many others.

I’m sure that many people will be happy about this news, but it’s incredibly likely that the 15 year old will have to face serious consequences for his actions. Via Zeusmos, thousands of applications will have likely been installed illegitimately, removing revenue and earning from hard working developers who sell their app in the iOS app store.

It’s only really a matter of time before Apple decide to take action, we’re just wondering; how much.
